Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Keipt. Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out to our team.

How does receipt scanning work?

Point your camera at a receipt and Keipt uses AI (Google Gemini via OpenRouter) to extract the merchant, items, totals, and date. The OCR call is real-time and the provider does not retain the image after processing. On Free, the image stays only on your phone. On Pro and Max, the image is saved to our cloud so you can access it from other devices.

What's included in the free plan?

30 receipt scans per month, AI auto-categorization, and a 7-day spending insights window with a 30-day preview. All data stays local on your device. Upgrade to Pro for priority scanning with no monthly rate limit, cloud sync and backup, and full insights history.

What do I get with Pro?

Pro ($19.99/year, just $1.67/mo) unlocks priority receipt scanning (no monthly rate limit), cloud sync and backup, full spending insights across all timeframes, family group tracking, Apple Family Sharing (share with up to 5 family members), and smart search.

Can I share my Pro subscription with family?

Yes — Pro supports Apple Family Sharing. One subscription covers up to 5 family members in your Apple Family group at no extra cost. Each member gets their own Keipt account with priority scanning, cloud sync, and full insights. To enable it, make sure Family Sharing is turned on in your iPhone's Settings → Apple Account → Family Sharing, then share purchases with your family group.

What's in Max?

Max ($49.99/year) includes everything in Pro plus multiple business entities, IRS expense categories, tax-ready CSV and PDF exports, line-item splitting, and Annual Wrapped.

How do I create a business entity?

Go to Profile → Your Groups → + Create. Choose "Business" as the type, give it a name, and you can start tagging receipts to it for tax tracking. Business entities require the Max plan.

How do tax reports work?

Max subscribers can generate IRS-categorized expense reports. Receipts tagged to a business are automatically organized by Schedule C categories. Export as CSV or PDF from your business entity page.

Is my data private?

Yes. Receipt images are OCR'd in real time by Google Gemini (via OpenRouter) which does not retain them. On Free, everything stays on your device. On Pro and Max, your receipts and images are stored in our cloud (on Cloudflare) under your account only. We never sell your data, and we delete everything within seconds when you delete a receipt or your account. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

The scanner isn't reading my receipt correctly

Try better lighting, hold your phone steady, and make sure the entire receipt is in frame. Crumpled or faded thermal paper receipts can be harder to read. You can always edit any field after scanning.

Can I use Keipt for both personal and business expenses?

Absolutely. Keipt supports personal spending, family groups, and multiple business entities all in one app. Each gets its own category system and reporting.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

Manage your subscription through your device's app store settings (App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android). You can cancel anytime — your data stays yours.

What happens if I cancel Pro or Max?

Your data is yours, always. When you cancel: you keep the paid features through the end of the billing period you already paid for; your receipts and images remain in the app and in our cloud during that window; CSV and PDF exports stay available so you can pull a copy for your records before your access reverts to Free. After the billing period ends, the app falls back to the Free tier (local-only, 30 scans/month, 7-day insights). Nothing is deleted unless you separately delete the account or individual receipts. You can re-subscribe any time and pick up where you left off.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data from the app and from our cloud (receipts, images, businesses, search embeddings, and account records) within seconds.
